I think the word prejudice is to judge someone or something before you actually know and understand that person or thing. I have witnessed prejudice acts before and i witness them often. I usually see them when someone is mad and angry do they take their anger out on someone that they don’t understand or someone they don’t like because that other person has different skin or a different culture. I don’t believe its fair or right to judge someone on their skin color or culture, actually i don’t think its fair to judge anyone on anything because i will admit I’ve judged some people before and then met them and they were actually really cool people. I have learned and taught myself not to judge people; I think now that if i saw someone being racist or judging someone i would get mad and I would have to stand up and tell the person that its not right and not fair. I would also show that person what I mean and show them how other people can be cool even though they might be different.

I grew up in a nice neighborhood and I’m fortunate for that. I grew up in the Thurston hills, The area is beautiful with lots of trees and shade for you in the summer and nice friendly neighbors that will help you with almost anything. The people that live in my neighborhood are mainly older folks so they are always quiet so it’s usually very peaceful in my neighborhood. I love the neighborhood that I grew up in and I’m very thankful to have grown up there.

I believe hat justice stands for doing the right thing when people aren’t around and also encouraging other to do the right thing when others are not around. The most unjustice thing I’ve ever head of was the shooting at Virgina Tech. The shooting at Virginia Tech was uncalled for and shouldn’t have happened if you are having a problem in our life you should deal with it and not harm anyone else. I know it sounds bad but if your gonna kill anyone kill yourself instead of shooting and killing innocent people that did nothing to you and have never harmed you.
Blog Post #5 - Memoir - The Game
Have you ever faced odds that seem impossible to overcome? Last year when the football team went to Marshfield we faced almost impossible odds. When you pull upto the school it’s intimidating just looking at their stadium because, their stadium is huge, loud, and always has a ton of Marshfield fans. It’s also intimidating to play there because you have to adjust to the climate and the wind sucks. This all happens before you even see the team or get your gear on.
It’s now time to gear up and get ready to play. As you’re getting dressed all you can hear is the roar of the crazy fans in the stadium. As you comeout of the locker room you can feel all of the fans eyes shift to you. Their intimidating stare makes you feel little and weak. Everyone in the stadium just glares at you and makes you feel horrible.
The game is now about to start and the butterflies in your stomach are getting worse… Kickoff!!! Now the butterflies slowly go away and you can block some of the fans out, but they are still there in the back of your head. The hardest part is yet to come; now you not only have to face the intimidating stadium, the fans, and the team, but you now also have the ref’s against you. The refs are from Marshfield so why wouldn’t they want Marshfield to win. So now we have the players allowed to play dirty because the refs act like they don’t see it; you also have to watch it though because the refs will call everything on your team.
It’s now crunch time… it’s the fourth quarter and we are down by 10. First play of the fourth quarter our running back fumbles and Marshfield scores (now down 17). On our next drive we take the ball 80 yards in 5 plays and score (down 10). Marshfield gets the ball back but, they FUMBLE!!! Thurston touchdown again(down 3). With 2 minutes left in the game we have the ball and we have 92 yards to go. The stage is set and now it’s who wants it more? We drive down to the 10 yard line in 10 plays, and we have :15 seconds left in the game. Coach calls a timeout. He talks to us and asks us if we want to kick a field goal and go into overtime or go for the win? The whole team says go for the win. Coach calls a quarterback sneak. I hike the ball and run right, the blocks setup but there is two guys now between me and the endzone. I’m not going to be stopped!!! I hit both guys but keep pushing and pushing. One of them stumbles and i fall with him. I extend and fall, it doesn’t look like I’m going to get the ball across but at the last second I stick the ball across the line…, we just won!!! 48 minutes of football and one play changed it all. Form this one game i learned that you can’t give up, and if you keep striving to get better and keep working hard the glory will come later.
Blog Post #4 - Text Messaging… Does it help or hinder student writing?
I feel that text messaging and slang is a good way to communicate fast. Texting can help in writing stuff like rough draft or just saying something to a friend, I don’t think that you should be able to use texting slang in a class essay or job application anything like that should be writen out completely because it should be easy to understand and it should be formal. I usually send about 700-1000 texts a day and its easy to send that many when you use texting slang because it doesn’t take aslong as writing every word out. I feel like texting helps improve some writing skills but everyonce in awhile i find myself spelling words in texting slang when i should spell the word out. I feel like texting should be able to be used in anything that is not a final draft like a rough draft and communication. I don’t think that texting slang should be used in anything like a final draft of an essay, job application, something you are presenting to people, or something that you will be presenting. When you speak it doesn’t really have an effect on me because I speak the words and when i txt its just the word without all the letters so you can understand the word still but it doesn’t take aslong to write. What are your opinions on texting?
Blog Post #3 - Independent Reading - New Understandings
Through independent reading i’ve learned alot form how to cook sertain food, how to make stuff, etc. Independent reading can be very helpful and can be relaxing. I don’t have a specific quote from a book that i’ve read but, reading can be very helpful and you can gain alot from reading. I also think that reading can be very relaxing and can releive stress. Reading also helps with writing in the sense that it helps you learn new words.
BLOG POST #2 - Blogs? What’s a Blog?
I think that a blog is a way of communicating about how you feel about something or getting something out that you wouldn’t usually say. I’ve heard of blogs before through friends and the internet but i’ve never really used a blog or made a blog before. I’m very comfortable with computers because, i use computers almost everyday and i grew up using one. I usually use a computer to find information and communicate with friends and family. My opinion of writing is that I think its a good way to communicate how you feel without comingout and saying how you feel and its also a good way to communicate and let other people relate to something they might think they would never do. I usually don’t write much outside of school unless its a job application or something like that but i usually e-mail so i guess thats a form of writing. People are concerned about kids safety through the internet because most kids don’t care and put where they live, their first and last names, and a picture so it’s very easy for some random person to find that kid. The internet can be dangerous if not used right but if you use the internet right its a valuable tool. My friends usually just use the computer to get information and for communication through e-mail and myspace. I don’t really kno what to think because i’ve never really blogged before so i will just have to see how the rest of the year goes.
Blog Post #1 - Independent Reading Book Selection
I’ve decided to read “Message in a Bottle” by Nicholas Sparks. I’m reading this book because it was recommended to me by my friend Sami so i decided to read it. I’m also reading this book because i have to read a book for lit calss so i decided to read a book that someone has read before and recommended. I’ve also read a few articles by Nicholas Sparks and they were interesting. Nicholas Sparks chooses good topics to write about and you can usually relate to them. I think that eading something that you can relate to is good because it means more to you then reading about something you dont care about.
